Custom Hot Tub and Spa Installation Services

Hot tubs and spas need to be carefully installed to ensure you get all of the features that were promised to you. Many of the latest models have more technology than ever before. When you combine electricity with water, you have to be extremely cautious. Ajax custom hot tub and spa installation services will ensure you can relax in your hot tub or spa with greater peace of mind.

There are quite a few specifics involved with installing your hot tub, and this includes installing the spa panel near the hot tub.
A professional installer will look at such things as:

    • Power and wiring requirements
    • Ground fault circuit interrupters
    • Location of the breaker panel
    • Potential safety risks

The project of installing your hot tub or spa can be a challenge, and unless you’re working with a prepared site, there’s going to be a lot of things that will need to be done to meet not only the electrical requirements of the unit but also adhere to building codes in the area. Particularly when there’s the need to add a dedicated circuit to the electrical panel, it will involve obtaining a building permit.

Since hot tubs vary dramatically, there’s no telling what’s required until an installer sees the hot tub, the electrical requirements, and where it’s going to be placed. Indoor hot tubs may seem like the easier option but may require a few additional components including proper ventilation, fans, and dehumidifier.

It’s important to remember that hot tubs are heavy, and once they’re filled with water, they become heavier. You’ll want to ensure the floor is capable of holding all of that weight, regardless of whether it’s going to be installed inside or outside, in-ground or above-ground.

Hot tubs and spas will generally run using 120v or 240v, though some will have mixed voltage. To be sure that your pump can run to circulate the water through the jets, you’ll need to ensure that your outlet can accommodate the voltage. Circuits may need to get upgraded as it’s rare to enjoy a “plug and play” tub.

Hardwiring is a bit more time-consuming, but it’s one of those installation services that can better serve you in the long run. Particularly when you have one of the larger hot tubs or spas with more features, it’s likely to have a higher voltage, and therefore, require a more extensive upgrade so that you can get electricity to it all.

Essentially, it’s important to consider what the installation requires to help you get up and running.
If the area needs to be prepped, there may be the need to focus on the foundation first.

Otherwise, you’re looking at electrical installation to be the most significant aspect. Once everything has been wired, you’re able to fill your tub and add chemicals. Of course, the complete step-by-step process will be covered within the owner’s manual of your tub.

Hot Tub Installation Requirements

It is vital to decide the location of your hot tub before purchasing. You want to place your hot tub where the foundation is flat and level. You will also want to make sure the foundation can hold the full weight of the spa filled including people. If the foundation is not stable the hot tub can start to sink or even crack. Proper applications include a reinforced deck, an area with at least a four-inch-thick poured concrete that supports 120 pounds per square foot, stone pavers, a composite slab of wood and gravel, or a modular spa pad heavy-duty plastic holding the tub. Proper draining is required.

You must have an outside electrical location. If the electrical outlet is 110V, all you must do is plug in the hot tub. If the electrical outlet is 220V, you will need the services of a skilled, certified electrician to connect your tub. The tub will require a 50-amp, 240V Ground Fault circuit Interrupter on an outside wall sitting five to twenty-five feet from the hot tub.

Access to a water source. It is best if you have a spigot close by for the purpose of filling, draining, and refilling your hot tub as needed.
You need to take into consideration your backyard landscape for privacy and protection reasons. Do you have a roof drip line or a sap tree over your tub? Can the neighbors or people walking by see you? You may have to consider another location due to this or perform some advanced preparation before your hot tub arrives. Your dealer can help you with deciding on the perfect backyard location. Preparation for your hot tub helps to make delivery and set up go smoother.

Read up on what your city or state require, such as, some states say the tub must sit back at least five feet from the property line. Some states require fencing around your hot tub, while other states say that an approved hot tub cover serves as the safety barrier. Consider if your city or state has water restrictions.
